Aboard our vessel, you'll
see and explore the magnificence of the Tarcoles River, its avifauna and
the population of crocodiles in their natural habitad . The tour
consists of a two –hour-long journey on the river, one of the four ends
in the Gulf of Nicoya on the Pacific Ocean. From the jetty, the boats
goes upriver to the crocodile habitat . Once there, tourists can take
snapshots of the adult crocs as they approach to within a few feet of
the boat . Some of the crocodiles grow to over four yards in length.
Meanwhile, the guide explains the social behavior of the crocodiles and
local birds and the characteristics of the ecosystem . Later, the boat
descends to the outle of the river , a swampland entering the channel of
Guacalillo. During the whole journey, more than 50 species of native and
migratory birds can be observed. In fact, the tour route encompasses the
most important refuge in the country for the Scarlet Macao.Tourists
receive a bottle of water and an informative pamphlet about the area´s
colorful birds . Tour times are based on the tides, and we operate every
day.
