Nestled in the mountains adjacent to the Monteverde oud Forest Preserve, you will find the Hotel Belmar, offering spectacular views and personalized service in a comfortable, rustic atmosphere. All, just moments away from the wilderness of an inmense tropical rain forest, internationally known as one of the world’s premiere wildlife sanctuaries. A privately owned reserve atop Continental Divide, Monteverde protects six different wildlife communities of both the Caribbean and Pacific slopes. The Cloud Forest’s most famous flying resident is the resplandent quetzal, considered by many to be the most beautiful bird of the world. There are at least 400 other bird species, including the balibird, not easily seen but frequently heard, over 100 species of mammals and an estimated 2500 species of plants. What you see most is dripping, dense vegetation, with majestic trees, ferns, bromeliads, vives, mosses and more than 300 species of orchids.

Consisting of two separate Swiss Chalet Style buildings with wood paneling and French doors, Hotel Belmar is a typical mountain hotel, its comfort, combined with the beauty of the surrounding landscape, creates a lasting impression that helps put everything in perspective.
In keeping with the peacefulness of the natural setting and its inherit beautiful qualities, the hotel’s philosophy is centered in nature, delicious and nutritional meals and new acquaintances. In appreciation of Costa Rica’s natural heritage, are prepared with ingredients produced within the country, many locally. The Hotel decoration features works of Costa Rican artists, handicrafters, and photographers, most of them of this area.
 
 
 
Location
The Hotel Belmar is located 115 miles from San Jose, the last 22 miles to Monteverde are gravel road and it takes one and a half hours passing by the splendid views of the San Luis Valley and the Gulf of Nicoya. Allow about four hours to the journey from San Jose to Monteverde.
 
 
 
 
 
Lodging
There are 34 rooms, many with a private balcony and a spectacular view of the Gulf of Nicoya and others overlook the tropical rainforest. Most rooms have a double and single bed, others have single beds. There are four family rooms. All rooms have private baths with hot water , showers, chest of drawers, wall mirror, night tables, and a coffee table with two chairs on the balconies. Due to the altitude (1500 mts / 4500 ft) neither air conditioning nor heating is necessary. The average temperature is 17 Cº (62 Fº).
