
Mawamba
Lodge is situated on the Northeast
area of Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast
on a sand bar between the Tortuguero
Canals and the Caribbean Ocean, an
excellent location that provides
direct access to the pristine beach
and the canals. Nestled in the lush
rainforest, this is the ideal
hideaway for nature lovers and the
perfect place to discover the
wonders of the Tortuguero National
Park.

transportation, lodging for your
selected number of nights, all
meals, boat tours on the Canals and
walks in the National Park, lead by
a professional guide.

During
your stay, enjoy our pool surrounded
by exotic gardens and relax in the
ranchos with hammocks. Comfortable
rooms with ceiling fans provide
tranquil garden views. Stroll
through the nature trails or take a
leisurely walk on the pristine beach
in front of the Lodge.

It's
beautiful gardens and rustic
accommodations, blend with the
exuberant jungle vegetation, exotic
birds and wildlife creating the
perfect balance of nature. All the
spacious and comfortable rooms are
built in fine woods and are equipped
with either 1 double and one single
bed or three single beds. All
feature a private bathroom with hot
water and ceiling fans and offer
tranquil garden views..

The
Family style restaurant Chelonia
caters International and delicious
local cuisine and a pool - whirlpool
area surrounded by beautiful gardens
where you can enjoy exotic tropical
cocktails, are some of the
facilities that you will find at the
Lodge.

In the
pool area we protect a "Red-eyed
tree frog" project, where you will
observe these lovely animals in
their natural habitat. Relaxing
ranchos / palapas with hammocks
tucked away in the gardens, are the
right place to relax after a day of
adventures and discoveries, read a
good book or just enjoy the sounds
of the rainforest.

Private
nature trails featuring a open sky
butterfly farm provide the
opportunity to discover the
different species of trees, palms
trees, heliconias and many other
plant species that abound in the
Tropical Rainforest. Every evening,
we also present lectures on
Tortuguero area at our conference
room, where you will be able to
learn more of the fantastic
inhabitants of the National Park.

For our
guests enjoyment we recently added
an entertainment / game room area
that features pool table, darts,
foosball and different table games
for adults & children. Drinks
including sodas, beer or juices are
also available in this area. The
Lodge also features a souvenir shop
where you can find items of personal
nature and local and Costa Rican
souvenirs & crafts.

Classic Tours:
After an early departure from San
José, we will stop for breakfast at
our private Restaurant Río Danta,
where you will enjoy a typical Costa
Rican breakfast surrounded by the
sounds of the Danta River and
marvelous views of the gardens.
Continuing our way, we will arrive
to Matina, our private embarkation
point. Before you board the boats
for a 2 hour ride on the canals, you
will enjoy fresh water and
refreshing tropical fruits. Once you
arrive to the lodge and after a
hearty lunch, the adventure
continues!

Day
One:
-
Our trip begins
early with breakfast at Rio Danta
Restaurant and Private Reserve en route
to the embarkation point of Matina. We drive
through the spectacular rain forests of
Braulio Carrillo National Park, just 30
minutes from San José, then visit a banana
packing plantation (Mon - Fri weather
permitting). Enjoy a buffet of tropical
fruits at Matina before boarding a boat
specially designed for canal navigation. A
two-hour trip through the canals will take
us to Mawamba Lodge...just in time for
lunch!

You will be at
your leisure in the afternoon to experience
the local culture and habitat, visit some of
the area's wonderful natural attractions,
walk the nature trails or just relax in a
luxurious hammock. Our resident biologist
will present a slide show on Tortuguero's
natural history in the early evening and, in
season, an optional night tour will take you
to view the nesting turtles.
Day Two:
- Early the
next morning, we will explore the marvelous
Tortuguero canals in smaller, open boats
that will allow you better visibility for an
even closer look at the flora and fauna in
the smaller canals. After breakfast, we'll
leave Tortuguero by boat, then meet our
vehicle back at Matina. We'll stop for lunch
at Río Danta Restaurant, and you will
be back at your hotel in the late afternoon.

Jose-Matina-San Jose and boat transportation
Matina-Tortuguero-Matina, all meals, lodging,
brakfast day 01, regular tours & bilingual
naturalist guide and taxes.

Entrance fees to National Park and Reserve
